What factors inspired these Artists?

In1947, René Marcil worked for Dior and was behind designing a famous line called Dior's "New Look". It was a collection line that appealed to American women. When Marcil moved to Paris in the 1950s, he became a part of the Académie de la Grande Chaudière and the lyrical abstraction movement, a movement parallel to American abstract expressionism. He became famous for making neoplasticism to a modern style with making the rectangles and squares filled with color and having thicker lines

Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian's inspiration was strongly influenced by the forceful expression and use of color in the art of Post-Impressionist Vincent van Gogh, . Such daring use of color was reflected in Mondrian’s Red Cloud, a rapidly executed sketch from 1907. Other artists inspired Mondrian as well and helped him transfer his beliefs about animate objects into a new art style. He founded the art periodical and the movement of DE STIGL once his art became more evolved.

Until 1913 he explored traditional representational painting, greatly influenced by Vincent Van Gogh, and the then more modernist figurative styles. After reading Wassily Kandinsky's autobiographical Ruckblicke, he had a revelation about the nature of painting and its connection to spirituality.

Theo Van Doesburg

Charmion von Wiegand began making abstract art only after meeting and becoming close friends with Piet Mondrian in the spring of 1941. Von Wiegand had been painting casually since about 1926, but after undergoing psychoanalysis, she realized that art remained as compelling in her adult years as it had been in childhood. But only after she met Mondrian, stopped painting the landscapes she found increasingly troublesome, and spent a year and a half reading and thinking about his Neo-plastic ideas, did she finally come to grips with developing her mature artistic approach.

What has this design style inspired today?

DE STIGL has inspired many other types of designs mainly designs including geometrical shapes, it also inspired artitectures and how they will be proportional they'll be, graphics, funiture, and house designs.

What did you learn about this art style?

My partner and I have learned about this art style that even thought it looks very easy to do, it is a very complicated art style that has many mysterious to it. It uses geometry for the squares/rectangles and it can take a very long time to do. This art style is very unique and some artists have put in hidden codes with the squares such as the "Boogie Woogie" piece, it then was found out 60 years later that it was also a song outline.
